Authorities are searching for the suspects who opened fire at a borough intersection Sunday.

No one was reported to have been struck, according to the Salem County Prosecutor’s Office, one of the agencies investigating the incident.

Shortly before 6 p.m., the Penns Grove Police Department received a report of shots fired near the intersection of Walnut Street and Westminster Avenue, according to authorities.

Officers arrived on the scene where witnesses described the vehicle in which the suspects who fired the shots were riding. Police from Penns Grove, aided by officers from the Carneys Point Police Department, shortly found the vehicle abandoned on Mitchell Avenue in the borough, authorities said.

A Salem County Sheriff’s Office K-9 responded to the scene in an attempt to track the suspects.

No suspects had been apprehended as of early evening.

According to the prosecutor’s office, it was not immediately clear who the intended target was.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Penns Grove Police Department at 856-299-0055.
